Native to the coastal shrubland and sandy soil of Western Australia from the Central West Coast, Leeuwin-Naturaliste and the WA South Coast, Purple Hibiscus flowers have deep violet satiny petals 8-12cm across, with the flowering running long across spring through summer — in mild climates it barely stops.
The seeds are 3-4mm and near-black, with a hard glossy coat, lightly hairy. ANPSA states propagation from seed is relatively easy with no special pretreatment needed, but an overnight soak is recommended. Sow in Spring or early Autumn.
Also known as Blue Hibiscus, Lilac Hibiscus, Native Hibiscus.
