Native Seed Co started with a simple conviction: that growing Australian native plants should be beautiful, accessible, and considered — not overwhelming.
We're based in Broadwater, in the south-west of Western Australia — one of the world's most biodiverse regions for native flora. It felt like the right place to start a seed company that takes its plants seriously.
Every seed packet is hand-packed in small batches. We work with ethically minded growers who share our commitment to quality and ecological responsibility. No bulk imports, no shortcuts.
We don't try to stock everything. Our range is deliberately focused on flower seeds — a curated selection where every variety earns its place. We'd rather offer twenty beautiful options than two hundred mediocre ones.
We source through a partnership with the country's longest-standing native seed specialists — a lineage of botanical expertise stretching back to the 1930s, when a pioneering arboretum first began gathering and preserving Australia's native flora. What began on a bare, windswept property in central New South Wales grew into a nationally respected seedbank, and over nearly a century it has become the most comprehensive and diverse collection of Australian native seed in the country.
Their seed is wild-collected and grown across dedicated seed production areas, with practices designed to preserve genetic integrity and protect the long-term health of native populations. Every lot is cleaned, processed, and tested for germination in laboratory-grade cabinets. Fire-responsive species — the banksias, hakeas, and smoke-loving understorey plants — are treated in purpose-built smoke tunnels to coax the germination they'd find after a bushfire.
It's the same supply trusted by restoration ecologists, mining rehabilitation projects, and government revegetation programs across Australia — held to the standards set out in the Florabank Guidelines, the country's national best-practice framework for native seed use. We don't believe a home garden deserves anything less.
What arrives in your letterbox has travelled from wild collection, through nearly a century of botanical know-how, into a kraft packet hand-filled in Broadwater. That's the chain we're proud to stand behind.
100% Australian native seeds from growers who follow organic practices. No synthetic treatments, no coatings.
Hand-packed in Western Australia using Australian-made, eco-friendly packaging. Every part of the process supports local.
Every batch is checked for germination rates before packing. We don't sell seeds we wouldn't plant ourselves.
Every native garden — no matter how small — contributes to habitat for birds, bees, butterflies, and the broader ecosystem. That's the point of what we do.
We believe in fewer, better products. A tight range that feels considered rather than comprehensive. If a variety doesn't belong, it doesn't ship.
We include realistic growing guidance with every packet. Some species are straightforward; others take patience. We'll tell you which is which.
Browse the collection and find the seeds that suit your garden, your climate, and your soil.
