Tall Kangaroo Paw

Planting Instructions

1. Soak seeds in warm water for 24-48 hours before planting to improve germination.
2. Sow seeds in spring or autumn in a well-draining seed-raising mix.
3. Lightly cover seeds with fine soil or sand, about 2-3mm deep.
4. Keep soil moist but not waterlogged until germination occurs (14-42 days).
5. Transplant seedlings when they reach 8-10cm tall.
6. Choose a sunny position with excellent drainage and space for growth.

Care Tips

• Thrives in full sun - strong light produces taller, sturdier flower stems and maximises the long flowering season.
• Adaptable to many soils - will cope with clay, loam, or sandy ground as long as it drains well; waterlogging will damage the rhizomes.
• Low-maintenance but benefits from care - remove spent flower stems at the base and old leaves to encourage fresh growth.
• Feed in spring and summer with a low-phosphorus native fertiliser for best results.
• Impressive size and presence - can reach 2m in height with flower stems, making it ideal as a dramatic backdrop or statement plant.
